The Tigers went down at home, again, to the high flying Hull K R by 28-46 in a game where the final score flattered the visitors as Terry Matterson's boys matched the Robins in almost every department apart from the points, which ultimately is the main statistic.

The opening moments were played at a blistering pace and with only 4 minutes played, Michael Dobson kicked a 40-20 to put the visitors on the front foot. From the resulting possession the ball was transferred through the hands resulting in Liam Colbon crossing at the corner but resolute Tigers' defence forced the winger touch in goal.

Cas hit back in style with Brett Ferres running wide out on the last tackle. The 2nd row stepped through the Rovers line before breaking through Shaun Briscoe's attempted tackle to score. Joe Westerman converted and the Tigers had a 6-0 lead after only 7 minutes.

That lead was doubled only 5 minutes later when Rangi Chase put prop Craig Huby through a gap 30 metres from the Robins line. Huby had Ryan Hudson in support but chose to go it alone and despite Briscoe's desperate tackle attempt the prop managed to scramble over for the try. Westerman again converted.

Rovers hit back when Dobson's high kick was palmed back by Paul Cooke and England winger Peter Fox gathered the loose ball to score despite the best efforts of Ryan McGoldrick. Dobson added the extras to take the score to 12-6 in favour of the home side.

A Chase offload saw Hudson find James Evans who in turn handed on to Michael Wainwright who was tackled just short. Rovers were then penalised for offside and Westerman added the 2 points to increase the lead.

Again the visitors hit back when a beautifully timed pass sent Briscoe darting in for the first of his 3 tries. Dobson again converted before adding a further 6 points of his own. An offload by Rhys Lovegrove saw Daniel Fitzhenry carry the ball before committing Richard Owen and sending Dobson in for a score which he also converted to put Rovers in front.

With half time approaching Hudson put a little kick through. The ball ricocheted off a Rovers defender to Dean Widders who offloaded to Hudson for the Tigers skipper to score a try which Westerman again converted to give Cas a 20-18 lead at the break.

Within a minute of the restart Fitzhenry was penalised for holding down and Westerman duly extended the Tigers lead with a penalty goal, before Dobson turned down the chance of a kickable penalty opting to run the ball and his solo run earned him his 2nd try, which he again converted to edge Rovers back in front.

2 minutes later and Rovers were in again this time through Colbon after a Clint Newton break was supported by Jake Webster. Dobson was off target from the touchline.

The Tigers then turned down a penalty goal attempt, opting to run it and when McGoldrick fired a pass out Westerman was unable to hold. Fox picked up the loose ball to race full length for a score which Dobson converted with the help of the upright.

Cas then narrowed the gap through Kirk Netherton after good work from Chase, McGoldrick and Owen. Huby goaled to reduce the deficit to 6 points before Briscoe got his 2nd try off a Dobson pass. Again Dobson was able to convert.

Westerman looked to have got Cas back in the game when he went over in the corner off a Chase pass only for the touch judge to rule no try. Cooke then missed with a drop goal attempt before Chase spilled Michael Shenton's pass with the line open.

Briscoe completed his hat-trick which Dobson converted to complete the scoring.

Next up is a daunting trip to our local rivals Leeds Rhinos where the Champions will be looking to keep up their title challenge with a win against the Tigers. Local derbies sometimes have a sting in the tail so it could be anybody's game.
