Keith made an appearance at the school this week to support fund raising efforts for the Wembley trip in August. He presented players with a commemorative replica jersy signed by members of the victorious 1969 squad. The shirt was donated by Castleford Tigers Supporters Club. The former scrum half told pupils he had followed their progress over the last three years at consecutive finals. He said he was pleased former Castleford players could support youth development in the area and wished them well in the finals. Cstleford's Y7 team will follow in 'Heppy's' footsteps as they play their final at Wembley on August 29th in the Challenge Cup curtain raiser against Outwood Grange High School. Head of PE, Lee Holmes said the students and staff were extremely grateful to CTSC for the donation and to the former players for their support. "The school needs to raise £25,000 to send it's five teams to the finals, so will be looking at auctioning the shirt to the highest bidder," he said. Headteacher Roy Vaughan echoed Lee's thanks and said it was encouraging to see support from the local rugby community for the school's teams. Bids are open for the shirt until late August. Any business or individual wishing to make a bid and in doing so support the school, can do so by contacting Lee at Castleford High School, 01977 605060 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
