CTSC Under 19s and Youth Development evening.

Another entertaining evening took place with special guests,

Pete Riding (Head of Youth & U16 head coach) Tony Smith (U19s Head Coach) Darren Higgins (Talent Development Manager) and Jamie Bell (Academy Lead on Strength and Conditioning).

Under 19s players, Calum Turner, Conor Fitzsimmons and Branden Douglas.

We started the evening by congratulating Conor Fitzsimmons on his selection for England Academy on the Australian tour, Conor told us about the tour and the games arranged.

Further questions were asked about the each individuals role,the Scholarship, under 19s and how things were progressing at the present time. The RFL's academy accreditation process was discussed in detail,

Following the RFL’s recent academy accreditation process Castleford Tigers have been recognized as a ‘Good’ academy following considerable improvements made to the clubs youth development provision over the last 12 months.

The assessment of the Tigers stated that ‘Castleford Tigers have made significant progress over the last 12 months and achieved a ‘Good’ academy, awarded to them by the independent accreditation. The club have enhanced the delivery, which is having a real positive impact on the needs of its players. Other improvements include their partnership with Pontefract New College and the range of education opportunities provided to players, increased contact time and improved staffing structures. A player welfare officer has been deployed to specifically cater for the youth environment and external specialists deliver mental skills and nutrition support on a one to one basis. Feedback from parents/guardians is extremely positive’.

We then had a break and after wards more questions we asked covering the following, junior rugby, which team did you supports as a youngster, influence on career, personnel goals, favorite player in SL, favorite Cas player, favorite team mate, nickname, favorite music, favorite TV, likes and dislikes about the club.

The U19s home match day was discussed which is usually Thursday and how this impacted on people attending the game, this day now clashes with the live SKY game, all agreed that another day or before the First team game would be beneficial to improve attendance.

We raised £41 on the night, many thanks to all our guests and to everyone who attended.
