Rugby League Season Launch, Sunday 1st February, Victoria Warehouse, Manchester.

A very cold Sunday evening in Manchester... fancy it? Yes we did, 20 members of the CTSC set off at 3.30pm from the George V Club into the unknown. A £10 ticket and free travel, a few drinks and our mission to show the RFL that Cas fans will support any venture which involves the fans of the game.

After a few drinks and the warmth of a Premier Inn bar overlooking Old Trafford, we made our way to the Victoria Warehouse to join a large queue of RL fans. We had already been talking to some Warrington fans mainly about Daryl Clark who was at the event.

The Tigers representative was Scott Moore and as we entered the dimly lit warehouse we got our places behind a barrier looking towards the stage. At 6.30pm the Indie band Reverend and the Makers opened up - not to everyone's taste but I liked them, they were to return later in the show with a longer set. In between the music various interviews of some players took place, games including players in which Scott Moore won the Nerves of Steel challenge.

The most enjoyable part of the night was the Mr & Mrs competition between Ryan Hall and Chris Hill who had tied the knot on New Years Eve. Very funny and brave of both couples to take place.

The 2015 season was counted in and the band returned to cap an enjoyable evening.

The RL Rocks was something different and well worth perusing in the seasons to come. Back on the bus and back to Cas, good to see all fans of all teams together. Let the battle commence.

Paul Burns-Williamson.
